Most governments rely on traditional indicators like GDP to evaluate progress.

But these metrics often overlook what truly matters in communities, equity, care, trust in institutions, and long-term resilience.

That’s why GCSI is building the Global Impact Index, a measurement framework that helps governments track the systemic impact of social innovation. It introduces indicators that capture public value: inclusion, environmental sustainability, civic participation, and well-being.

By Year 3, over ten countries will be piloting the framework and contributing to a shared global learning platform. The strategy also includes peer learning tools, national-level support, and guidelines to align measurement with the lived realities of people and the goals of public systems.

We don’t just need more data, we need better data that reflects what communities care about and what systems should be accountable for.
